Chiropractic Treatment
Chiropractic is often thought of for back pain—but it can improve or heal pain in many areas, from headaches to painful knees and just about everything in between (neck, arms, hands, shoulder blades, mid back, low back, hips, legs). It can benefit anyone with loss of range of motion in any part of the body, especially connected with the spine.
Other conditions that chiropractic can help include
- Degenerative changes to the spine
- Degenerative disc disease
- Herniated or bulging discs
- Sleep disturbances due to discomfort
- Difficulty sitting or standing
- Loss or change of sensation in the arms, hands, legs or feet
- Plantar Fasciitis
Chiropractic Technique
Dr. Chiungos has honed his assessment and adjustment skills in over two decades of continued study and practice. He is trained and practiced in several forms of general and advanced chiropractic assessments, but the one he uses most frequently is Sacro Occipital Technique® (SOT), credited to Major Bertrand DeJarnette, an engineer and Doctor of both Osteopathy and Chiropractic.
A distinction of SOT is the use of predictable body indicators—signs or signals that a doctor can assess on the body to know if, when and where to treat. The absence or presence of indicators after treatment also signals whether further treatment is necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover this?
Most insurance policies offer some chiropractic coverage. Dr. Chiungos works with Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Tufts Health Plan, Unicare/GIC, and Medicare. See the No Surprises Act for more information.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Absolutely. Chiropractic as a profession is more than 100 years old. We follow industry guidelines during our new patient induction process to minimize risk and maximize benefit. Chiropractic malpractice insurance is considered by many to be the least costly professional insurance in the healthcare industry because chiropractic is generally considered a safe, manual therapy.
When will I start feeling better?
It depends on your mechanism of injury and your current state of health. You might start feeling better as soon as your adjustment is finished. You might need to go home and ice (Dr. Chiungos will advise you). If your injury is serious, it may take several visits. But your healing has begun from the first adjustment. Your personal care plan is designed to take you from where you are today to your best possible outcome. Dr. Chiungos will keep you updated on your progress at each visit.
